TürkiyeTaxes

  • Tax residence follows presence and ties to Türkiye, not the passport
  • Turkish tax residents are taxed on worldwide income; non-residents on Turkish-source income
  • Verify your own position with a Turkish adviser before relying on any treatment

Personal income tax

Turkey is a normal-tax country, not a Caribbean-style zero-tax island — a point worth making because it is often grouped with tax-light citizenship programmes. Tax residents are taxed on their worldwide income at progressive rates from 15% to 40% in 2026. Non-residents are taxed only on Turkey-source income, so simply holding the passport without living there does not expose your worldwide income — but a genuine relocation does bring meaningful income tax.

Corporate tax

Resident companies pay corporate income tax at 25% on their worldwide profit (30% for banks and certain financial institutions), per the official investment guide. It is a real, sizeable economy with a proper tax system, not an offshore shell jurisdiction.

Indirect tax (VAT)

The standard VAT rate is 20% (with reduced rates of 1% and 10% for some categories), among the higher standard rates in the region. Everyday consumption is therefore taxed at a normal level.

What is not the draw

Turkey’s appeal is not a tax holiday: it is a fast route to a passport from a 400,000 USD property purchase, and — like Grenada — potential access to the US E-2 investor visa (a point to verify against current US rules for your nationality). Citizenship is not tax residency

A Turkish passport does not make you tax-resident, and it does not remove obligations to a country that taxes on citizenship, such as the United States. If a genuinely low personal-tax base is your goal, a jurisdiction like the UAE fits that far better than Turkey. Understand the distinction in our guide to second citizenship and taxes, compare the programmes on our comparator, and see our methodology for how each figure is verified.

Freedom. Anywhere.

What we do for you

Citizenship or residence, the honest answer often is not the one you arrived with. We take the whole procedure with you — eligibility, the route that fits your situation, the file, the follow-up — with one person on your side throughout.

For Türkiye specifically, you are talking to someone who already knows the file: who to speak to on the ground, what the unit actually asks for, and the points where applications stall.

  • One point of contact, from the first call to the certificate
  • Vetted partners on the ground — law firms, licensed agents, banks — introduced, not listed
  • It starts with a short qualifying call, and no, it is not a sales call
