Paraguay — FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Is the cheapest Paraguay route really just 70,000 USD?
The 70,000 USD figure is a productive business investment made through the SUACE window, committed over ten years with local job creation — it means genuinely running a company, not a passive deposit. Passive routes (property or financial instruments) start higher, around 150,000–200,000 USD.
How fast can I get Paraguayan citizenship?
Paraguay allows naturalisation after three years of permanent residence — one of the shortest horizons anywhere. It is real but discretionary, expecting genuine ties, some Spanish or Guaraní and actual presence; it is not granted automatically on the third anniversary.
Does Paraguay tax my foreign income?
No. Paraguay uses a territorial system, so foreign-source income is not taxed, and local taxes are broadly 10% on income and 10% VAT. This does not remove obligations to a country that taxes on citizenship, such as the United States.
