Colombia Migrant (M) Investor Visa

Processing time
1–3 months
Physical presence
This is a live-here visa. You must spend at least 180 days a year in Colombia, and the visa lapses automatically if you stay outside the country for more than 180 consecutive days. It is not a passport for someone who will not be present.
Family
Spouse or permanent partner and dependent children can be included as beneficiaries of the main applicant’s visa.

Limits and drawbacks

  • Colombia taxes its tax residents on worldwide income, at rates up to 39%. Once you spend 183+ days a year here you are tax-resident, so this is not a territorial, tax-light base like Panama or Paraguay.
  • The presence rule is strict: fewer than 180 days a year, or a single absence over 180 consecutive days, and the visa is lost.
  • Investment thresholds are pegged to the minimum wage and rise every January, so budget against the current SMMLV, not last year’s figure.
  • This is residency, not citizenship: the M visa leads to permanent (R) residence at five years, and citizenship follows from there.

What it gets you

  • A low-cost business route from about 45,000 USD
  • A relatively short citizenship horizon — five years, or two for many Latin Americans and Spaniards
  • A large economy and a well-known lifestyle draw
  • The M visa converts to permanent (R) residence after five years

Freedom. Anywhere.

What we do for you

Citizenship or residence, the honest answer often is not the one you arrived with. We take the whole procedure with you — eligibility, the route that fits your situation, the file, the follow-up — with one person on your side throughout.

For Colombia specifically, you are talking to someone who already knows the file: who to speak to on the ground, what the unit actually asks for, and the points where applications stall.

  • One point of contact, from the first call to the certificate
  • Vetted partners on the ground — law firms, licensed agents, banks — introduced, not listed
  • It starts with a short qualifying call, and no, it is not a sales call
