Singapore — FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Does the GIP give a Singapore passport?
No. The GIP grants permanent residence. Citizenship is a separate, later and discretionary step, and because Singapore does not allow dual nationality, naturalising requires renouncing your original passport.
What is the minimum investment?
From SGD 10 million (about 7.4 million USD) in a business (Option A). The fund route is SGD 25 million, and the family-office route requires assets under management of at least SGD 200 million with SGD 50 million deployed in Singapore.
Will Singapore tax my worldwide income?
Generally only Singapore-source income and foreign income received in Singapore are taxed, up to 24%, and there is no capital gains tax. Holding PR does not by itself make you tax-resident, and it does not remove obligations to a country that taxes on citizenship, such as the United States.
