Can MM2H lead to Malaysian citizenship?
No. MM2H is a long-stay residence visa, valid five to twenty years by tier. Malaysia does not naturalise MM2H holders, so treat it as a residence and lifestyle base, not a passport route.
What does the cheapest MM2H tier cost?
The Silver tier requires a fixed deposit of RM 500,000 (about 106,000 USD) plus a mandatory property purchase of RM 600,000 (about 127,000 USD). The property cannot be resold for ten years, and the real entry cost is the two combined.
Does Malaysia tax my foreign income?
Generally no. Malaysia is territorial and exempts most foreign-source income received by individuals, an exemption legislated to 2036. Local income is taxed up to 30%. It does not remove obligations to a country that taxes on citizenship, such as the United States.
